Attention new business owners....you need to visit the beach! Aside from the relaxation aspect that any business owner can benefit from, the beach offers marketing wisdom. If you are creating a logo, one piece of advice I give to my clients is make sure your logo design is simple enough that it can be readable when drawn in the sand.

But why?
Potential customers do not study logos.
They glance at them only long enough to gain an initial impression. If it's too complicated, the impression is just that --- complicated and confusing.
Think replication. An overly detailed design is not replicable on all the marketing collateral you are going to need. When was the last time you saw a polo shirt with a logo that included the entire tagline and street address of the company? You don't. Save those items for supplemental spaces like website headlines.
Fancy wastes time and money. Time-consuming "extras" like custom gradients and minute details will not show up well. Neither will delicate lines. You have limited time to make a first impression, so make sure every part counts.
